Lauren Swist is a Dog Trainer and Aspiring Nurse. While she pursues her Nursing degree, Lauren offers both obedience and therapy dog training services on the side, by appointment only.
Aspiring Nurse
Since she was a little girl, Lauren Swist has always dreamed of becoming a nurse. A compassionate and caring individual, taking care of others comes naturally to her. She knows that nursing is not an easy industry to be in. It requires not only compassion and understanding, but also patience and resilience. It is a fast-paced environment where care and skill come together as something to rely on in difficult situations. But Lauren is prepared for that and she’s striving to do her absolute best to take care of patients in need. She is already well on her way to obtaining an education and training in nursing, as she pursues her degree and Registered Nurse (RN) credential.
Obedience & Therapy Dog Trainer
Lauren Swist loves dogs! Actually, she loves all animals; dogs just happen to be her favorite! Her own fluffy four-legged friend is always by her side. But more than that, her dog has always had a nature gift for comforting her and other people. That’s actually why Lauren decided to look into therapy dog training. Now, she’s working to ensure that her dog is perfect for the job. And she’s already more than halfway there! Together, the pair plan to visit nursing homes, hospitals and senior centers to offer comfort and companionship to those who need it. Lauren’s dog has been a therapy animal for her, through both good and bad times in her life. The experience has inspired her to train more animals to take on a therapeutic role in their owners’ lives. In 2024, Lauren is determined to share her knowledge on dog training and service animals with readers of her blog.
When her dog was just a puppy, Lauren Swist took it upon herself to teach all of the basic commands. The process of obedience training wasn’t easy or fast, but that’s what made it so rewarding! Since training her own dog, she has worked to train other animals in basic obedience commands, as laid out by the American Kennel Club. She looks forward to working as a dog trainer in the future where her knack and knowledge in this area will be best served. Lauren also hopes to become a respected dog trainer locally for her specialization in therapy dog training.
